Biography:

Kirti Datla, an environmental engineering and policy studies major from Houston, Texas, graduated in 2008. She helped conduct research on global initiatives to address environmental problems at the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs (OES) in summer 2006. She presented the results of her research, “Environmental Incoherence? Reform of the United Nations Environmental Program,” at the Baker Institute in August 2006. Datla was recommended by James Blackburn of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rice. She interned at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Marine Protected Areas Center in summer 2007, and was named all-American in the National Parliamentary Debate Association in 2008. She worked at the Roosevelt Institution in Washington, D.C., from 2008 to 2009, and began an internship at the White House in summer 2009. Datla began studies at New York University School of Law in 2009.
