Ariela Schachter
Ariela Schachter, a policy studies and sociology major from Summit, N.J., graduated from Rice University in 2009. She assisted Harry Hatry and Elaine Morley of the Metropolitan Housing and Communities Policy Center of the Urban Institute in Washington, D.C., with research on the performance of nonprofit organizations, in summer 2008. She presented the results of her research, “Determining Impact: Nonprofits and Performance Measurement” at the Baker Institute in August 2008. Ariela was recommended by Roland Smith of the Sociology Department at Rice University. In summer 2009, she began work as a volunteer coordinator for Asociacion Nuevos Horizontes, a shelter for victims of domestic violence, in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, and in fall 2009 and spring 2010 was a research assistant to Michael Lindsay of the Department of Sociology at Rice University. In fall 2010, she began doctoral study at the Department of Sociology at Stanford University. |
