Biography:

Saira Karim Najam, a policy studies and religious studies major from Houston, Texas, graduated from Rice University in 2007. She assisted fellows of the Middle East Institute in Washington, D.C., with their research on American and Asian energy relations with the Middle East in summer 2006. She presented the results of her research, “The Quest for Energy Security: A Case Study of the Sino-American-Iranian Triangle,” at the Baker Institute in September 2006. Saira was a student research intern for the Baker Institute’s Energy Forum in 2005 and was recommended for participation in the program by energy policy fellow Amy Myers Jaffe. Saira began study at University of Virginia School of Law in 2007, graduated in 2010, and began work as an attorney specializing in employment and labor law at Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell in Houston.
