Biography:

Birnur Guven is a research scientist at Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC) and a postdoctoral research associate at the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy. Previously, she worked as a research associate at Rice University and an assistant professor of environmental engineering at Michigan State University. Guven’s current research focuses on source attribution of air toxins in the Houston area and global gas flaring and venting. She also worked on several air quality research projects prior to joining HARC and the Baker Institute, and her work has been published in various refereed journals. Guven received her B.S. in mathematics from Bogazici University in Turkey and her M.S. and Ph.D. in environmental engineering from Rice University.
