The Baker Institute Associate Roundtable recently kicked off a series of special events for members and their guests, hosting more than 120 Houston-area young professionals at Saint Arnold Brewing Company for an evening of craft beer, fajitas and policy.
The happy hour featured a presentation by postdoctoral drug policy fellow Nathan Jones, who offered an inside look at the business operations of the Arellano Felix drug cartel, also known as the Tijuana cartel.
Since 2005, the Associate Roundtable has been a leading membership group for young professionals and rising leaders up to age 45 in the Houston area. A companion to the Roundtable, the Baker Institute"s premier membership forum, the ART provides members with a truly unique networking opportunity with policy leaders and scholars.
Upcoming ART-exclusive events, to which members will receive complimentary admission, include cocktails and conversation with scholar Tony Payan, who will discuss the controversy over immigration reform. On Nov. 9, the evening after the institute"s 20th Anniversary Gala, the ART will host an evening featuring a DJ, great food, drinks and dancing. Ticket information will be released this summer; keep an eye on your mailbox for more information!
If you are interested in joining the Associate Roundtable, contact Jessalyn Giacona at 713-348-5624 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that Rice University alumni who graduated between 1993 and 2013 are eligible for a discounted membership rate.
