Researchers and health care providers are aware that religious frameworks, beliefs and practices may play a role in shaping not only medical decision-making in patients and doctors, but also broader concepts of ethics in medicine. The topic of religion and medicine provides immediate fodder for conversation that is relevant to practitioners, scholars and lay people, all of whom have an interest in what takes place within the halls of hospitals and, increasingly, within medical research labs. This event will bring together top scholars in religion and medicine for a panel discussion of how new reproductive technologies might change the meaning of being human.
Dr. John H. Evans will be signing his book, "Contested Reproduction: Genetic Technologies, Religion, and Public Debate," after the event. Copies of the book will be provided for sale courtesy of Brazos Bookstore.
