Event Description

This conference addresses a series of difficult questions regarding the future of natural gas in North America and suggests appropriate frameworks for both market participants and policymakers to understand the risks associated with various outcomes.

IMAGE Natural Gas in North AmericaCentral to this theme are two studies by Baker Institute researchers to be released at the conference. The first study, sponsored by the Independent Petroleum Association of America, poses questions regarding access to domestic resources and the growth of international trade in liquefied natural gas and what each means for security of supply.

The second study, undertaken with collaboration and support from McKinsey & Co., poses questions regarding potential market size, especially regarding growth in natural gas demand for power generation, and the relationship between crude oil and natural gas prices.

This conference was co-hosted by the Baker Institute Energy Forum in collaboration with the Center for Energy Economics at University of Texas.
