The International Space Medicine Summit III brings together leading physicians and space biomedical scientists from space-faring nations for high-level discussions on research needed to prevent and/or mitigate the medical and biomedical challenges associated with long-duration space flight.
The primary aims of the summit are to:
- Foster increased communication, cooperation and collaboration among the world’s top physicians and scientists in space medicine and the space life sciences;
- Focus on how lessons learned from Devon Island, the Antarctic and NASA Extreme Environment Mission Operations (NEEMO) can help advance successful human space exploration and protect the health and well-being of the flight crews before, during and after long-duration missions in space; and
- Enhance life on Earth by applying the resultant advances in human knowledge and technology acquired through living and working in space.
