At this closed door roundtable meeting, Vanessa Rubio, Mexico’s undersecretary of finance and public credit, discussed recent trends in the Mexican economy, the impact of the structural reforms, fiscal responsibility and public debt and Mexico's economic growth in the global economy.

Vanessa Rubio is the undersecretary of finance and public credit of Mexico, the first woman in the country’s history to hold the position. She has worked in the public sector for 22 years, including 12 years in the Finance Ministry, nine in the Foreign Affairs Ministry and one in the Social Development Ministry. She is the only woman to have been appointed undersecretary three separate times in the Mexican government: for foreign affairs, social development and finance and public credit. She was a professor at the Technological Institute of Monterrey for 14 years and has written various publications on international finance and international politics. Rubio holds a bachelor’s in international relations from the National Autonomous University of México and a master of science from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
