In his new book “America’s Fiscal Constitution,” Bill White dispels common myths about the budget and extracts practical lessons from the nation’s five previous spikes in debt. Drawing on original scholarship and his experience in finance and public service, White offers an objective and hopeful guide for those trying to make sense of the current debt crisis and its impact on their lives and futures.
The Honorable James A. Baker, III, former secretary of the treasury, called the book a “must-read for those who believe that we should get our economic house in order,” adding that “our nation cannot be strong militarily, diplomatically or politically unless it is strong economically.”
Bill White is senior advisor at Lazard, advising corporate leaders and governments worldwide. He served as mayor of Houston from 2004 to 2010 and has worked as the CEO of a successful business and as a member of numerous corporate boards.
